How this profit calculator works

Most online sellers in Bangladesh look at one number: selling price minus buying price. That number is not your profit. Every cash on delivery order also pays for the courier, the COD charge, packaging and the ads that brought the customer. And some parcels come back, which costs money even though the product returns to your shelf.

This calculator adds all of that up:

  • Profit when the order is delivered: selling price plus the delivery charge the customer pays, minus product cost, courier charge, COD charge, packaging and ad cost per order.
  • Loss when a parcel comes back: the courier charge, any return fee, the packaging and the ad money for that order.
  • Real profit per order: the two combined by your return rate. This is the number to plan with.

How to fill it in

  1. Selling price: what the customer pays for the product, without delivery.
  2. Product cost: what you paid your supplier, plus any local transport to bring stock home.
  3. Delivery charge the customer pays and what the courier charges you: use your courier's current rate card for your usual parcel weight.
  4. COD charge: many couriers take a small percentage of the cash they collect. Check yours.
  5. Ad cost per order: your Facebook ad spend for a week divided by the orders it brought in that week.
  6. Return rate: out of 100 parcels you send, how many come back? Count refused parcels too.

What to do with the result

If the real profit is thin or negative, you have four levers: raise the price a little, lower the ad cost per order with better creatives and targeting, charge a realistic delivery fee, or cut returns by confirming every order by phone before shipping. Use the "price for a margin" line to see the selling price that gives you the profit you want.

Once your prices work, put them on a proper store website. With a free EasyMall store, customers see your price and delivery charge before they order, which also reduces returns. For pricing strategy in depth, read how to price products for profit.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good profit margin for an online shop in Bangladesh?

It depends on the product. Fast-moving, competitive items like gadgets often run on thin margins, while clothing, cosmetics and handmade products usually need a higher margin to cover returns and ads. Calculate your real margin after all costs and returns, not just price minus cost.

Should I include the delivery charge in my selling price?

You can either show free delivery and build the cost into the price, or show a lower price plus a clear delivery charge. Enter your numbers both ways in the calculator to see which keeps your profit healthy.

How do returns affect my profit?

On a returned cash on delivery parcel you get the product back, but you lose the delivery charge, any return fee, the packaging and the ad money spent on that order. Even a 10% return rate can remove a large share of your profit.

Is this calculator free?

Yes. It's free and runs in your browser; nothing you type is saved or sent anywhere.
